A friend, Nicole Ann Thomas recently started an animal shelter. In real fact, she's been rescuing animals for over 3 years. Running an animal shelter is no easy feat. After housing these animals in her home for a long time, she decided to open a shelter of her own. The shop lot would be able to provide more space for these animals. This project is very cost consuming. Pet food, kitty litter, partitions, cleaning and upkeeping of the place consumes time, energy and most importantly money.I suggested to Nicole that we hold a charity drive. The planning and organizing started. Obtaining clothes, trinkets, shoes, books etc to sell at the drive. Marina helped with the drive. It was a lot of work but we did it anyways. I wouldn't say the drive was mighty lucrative but it helped raise a bit of cash that could be used to buy the basics.
People kept asking me why do I bother with it. I honestly dislike cats. I did this because I do not have the strength like Nicole to go around in the wee hours of the morning to rescue these animals. I guess this is a way for me to do something for these furry friends. Its nothing big but I'm hoping a small act will go a long way in ensuring the safety of these animals.
Also, most animals are worth saving compared to humans. Harsh but true.
