Short + Sweet hit our shores! Originated from Down under, travelled to singapore and finally here in Malaysia. Ran in klpac pentas 2 from 6-17th August 2008. Why short and sweet? every single piece was to be within 10 minutes or else disqualified.
One may think that "what the heck, its only 10 minutes, how hard can it be?" I would throw my dog at someone who tells me that! It was so tedious, the amount of rehearsals in various different places. especially if you're in 3 plays during the whole festivals, with 2 pieces back to back and suddenly finding out the day before the festival that one of your pieces had been pulled out do to "certain circumstances" (hint: brainless brute for a director)! Besides that, everything else about short + sweet carried sweet memories for me. For me it was a dream come true, being able to act with veteran actress Shantini Venugopal! She is such an amazing actress with so much talent oozing out of her. Always ready to help me get into character and teachin me a trick or two about being onstage! Of course acting with Amelia, Stephanie while being directed by Nalina was such a splendid experience.
My best memory and experience of short and sweet was definitely doing Mark Beau's piece Librarian Girls with Farah! Farah is such a talented actress and a dear friend. I've learnt so much about acting and connecting with a co-actor from her. She is a bag full of fun that is threatening to burst! (Farah, i love u)!Playing a staunch catholic lesbian is not easy. It took some time to get into character and be serious about it. Thanks to director Chris Ling, Mable and Tini manifested! (Mr.Ling, you're the best director in the world...oh how cliche)!
I really want to thank everyone who was involved in short and sweet, including the amazing Shalu & Jasmine for working tirelessly to make this a success! u guys rock!
LOVE U ALL!
